Can Meditation fix Premature Ejaculation?
Now that we have learned the difference between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, it has become clear: We need to stay parasympathetic as long as we can in order to delay ejaculation process.
Meditation can help us to gain more control over our mind, thus helping to keep the parasympathetic nervous system active. More importantly, meditation will train us to keep unwanted thoughts away. Self-confidence is an important factor in fixing premature ejaculation. However, it would be very hard to believe in yourself if you have failed many times over the years. I know how you feel. Unfortunately, our thoughts play an important role not only in our performance in bed but in every other aspect of our life.
It’s our internal dialog that matters!
Imagine Michael Jordan’s thoughts before he’s preparing to throw the ball into the basket. Do you think Michael Jordan has doubts about his performance? Of course not. He is confident about the result of a throw. If you want to become as good of a basketball player as Michael Jordan, it’s not enough to develop the same skills. You have to also think like Michael Jordan thinks.
Our thoughts matter – because our thoughts literally become matter!
Meditation is a technique to control our thoughts. Most people are like zombies. They are controlled by thoughts generated automatically, based on enviromental signals received by our senses and influenced and interpreted by our past experiences by our memory. No one seems to be in charge of our thoughts — or at least not the one who actually is having thoughts. They just seem to come and go randomly. Free will is just an illusion until you decide actually to use it.
The last thing we want is to have uncontrolled and undesired thoughts that we will fail again.
To practice meditation, you can take yoga classes or just practice it at home or any other place available. First, you need to find a place or a room that is suitable for meditation, preferably some place where no other people are walking around. Remove any possible distractions. Switch off the mobile phone. I know that when trying to meditate for the first time, it will be hard to avoid having distractive thoughts even for a few minutes. It would not make sense at first to set an impossible goal like meditating for one hour. Instead, start with just five minutes. I recommend you set a timer and, in case you had a thought during meditation, reset the timer and start again until you can clear your mind for five minutes.
Sit down on the floor with your legs crossed. If possible, use a soft surface, such as a yoga mat or a blanket.
Close your eyes and relax your body.
Focus on your breathing. Concentrate on inhaling and exhaling.
You should not have any thoughts until the timer goes off!
I recommend you use a Tibetan mantra, “om mani padme hum,” as a background sound. There is 34-minute version available on YouTube.
If you feel comfortable meditating for five minutes, increase the time to ten minutes. Increase the time gradually by adding five minutes every time you feel comfortable. Unless you want to be a Buddhist monk, you don’t need to meditate for many hours. Twenty minutes to one hour of meditation every day would be great. Meditation helps you to control your arousal and thus stay parasympathetic longer. More importantly, it will help you remove any thoughts about having premature ejaculation and regain your self confidence.

Premature Ejaculation and Depression
Most drugs that help to prolong sexual intercourse actually are nothing more than anti-depressants. These drugs release chemicals that stimulate parasympathetic nervous system to keep you calm and your arousal down. However, while these pills work, it means you’ll be addicted to these drugs. The results are temporary, and you risk possible side effects. You’ll also have to visit the doctor in order to renew your drug prescription every once in awhile.
Serotonin is a chemical produced by our body that keeps us happy and calm. When you are excited and your sympathetic nervous system is active, the serotonin level in your blood is low. When you are calm, the serotonin level is high. Basically, the human autonomic nervous system is divided into two subsystems: sympathetic and parasympathetic. When the parasympathetic is active, then the sympathetic nervous system is not having much influence on our body, and vice-versa. When the parasympathetic nervous system is active, it keeps us calm and stimulates blood flow in organs of digestion. This is why chronic stress results in stomach problems. The sympathetic nervous system stimulates blood flow in muscles, accelerates heart rate and also stimulates orgasm, while reducing blood flow in digestive organs. The sympathetic nervous system is in charge of the so-called fight-or-flight response of our body. It prepares the body to face any possible danger. When a dangerous situation is over, the parasympathetic nervous system is active again. While this works well in the animal kingdom, our big human brain keeps us worried constantly and, at the same time, keeping the sympathetic nervous system active.
The funniest part seems to be that the most dangerous threats to humans are the ones that will never happen. While more than 90 percent of worries or fears that humans are having will never occur, these fears instead will keep the sympathetic nervous system active, and the chronic stress will finally kill us in one way or another prematurely.
Of course having a big brain is a good thing after all. While pigs obviously are not suffering great amount of depression, they are not able to enjoy sexual relations the way humans do. Don’t get me wrong: I do like animals. I just think their emotional life is much simpler. Stress is just the price we pay for having a big brain. Fortunately, we are now aware of the problem, and we can change it by using our free will.
Suffering from depression keeps your body under the control of the sympathetic nervous system and is directly related to premature ejaculation. That premature ejaculation eventually can become chronic, which means it would be much harder to fix. It’s very clear that treating depression with drugs does not fix the underlying problem. I would suggest you find out the real cause of depression, and maybe it would be possible make small changes in your life in order to eliminate the source of stress. Maybe you can just enjoy the things that are good in your life, and you can decide to ignore small and trivial problems. People and things we have to deal in our life basically are neutral. It’s our reaction to them that makes the difference. We are just labeling things to be bad or good based on our previous experiences or something we have learned from school or from our fathers.
The good news is that you can just change your mind and your perception of things. Chronic stress is not only causing premature ejaculation but many other diseases and medical conditions, including heart disease and cancer. Clearly, more than 70 percent of all health problems are related to chronic stress.
We can blame society or the president for creating stressful conditions, or we can just take our life in our hands by changing our mind.
Well, neuro-linguistic programming, or just changing the mind, is not easy and takes a lot of effort, but there are some smaller changes that you can make starting today in order to fight depression and also last longer.
First of all, try to eat healthier. For example, eating a lot of protein – steak and other meat products – will keep serotonin levels naturally low, which is a bad thing if you want to last longer, remember? Try to not eat meat before sexual intercourse. Instead, eat some fruit or any product containing sugar, such as candy or a bottle of soda. Do enough physical exercise, as it helps to keep serotonin level high. Both eating healthy and doing physical exercise are natural methods to release serotonin in the blood, and they also are the best stress relievers.
